Yellow and Grey Baby Cardigan

I’m reaching the season of life when a) many women I know are having babies, b) I’m not anymore, and c) I actually have time to knit things for them! Can cronehood be far away?

Behold, I knit this little sweater using my stash and a pattern in a Beginning Knitting magazine. You can tell it’s handmade because of its many flaws, including the visible line where I ran out of “stash” grey yarn and had to buy some more that was almost a match. The sweater features an “i-cord bind-off,” which is the name for the 3D, rounded edges in a different color.

I don’t know whether the arms will be too long. As I recall from when my kids were babies, often if the garment fit the child’s trunk, the arms would be super long.

The yellow and grey colors were chosen because they are close to our school colors, and because the family isn’t finding out whether the baby is a boy or girl.
