Lunes Latin: He did not think to concede

Caesar … concedendum non putabat.

The Gallic Wars, by Julius Caesar, trans. Franz Rudele, p. 14

Rudele translates the phrase above as “Caesar … did not think [the Helvetii’s request to pass through Geneva] ought to be granted.”

You are welcome to use this phrase when you don’t think something is a good idea. Concedendum non putabat.
